Hi I’m Donna Caldwell, author, bridal consultant, creative whirlwind, and proud Northerner. Welcome to my wonderfully chaotic world – home of bold characters, steamy romance, and the ever-explosive Hearts Saga. I’m from Washington in the North East (yes, the original one), and I’m a proud dyslexic, married mum of three, wrangling family life, a full-time career, and a pair of completely pathetic and crazy cockerpoos. Life is busy, noisy, and full of flour, fabric, paint, and plot twists – just how I like it. By day, I’m a bridal consultant – think princess dresses, tiaras, and tears (sometimes all mine) – and by night, I dive into the dark and delicious world of fiction. I’ve always been a storyteller at heart, but it wasn’t until adulthood, after my daughter’s dyslexia diagnosis and my own belated one, that I found the push I needed to prove that neurodiversity doesn’t define us – it drives us. It’s our edge. Our colour. Our spark.
Why I Write
My writing journey was born from three powerful things:
📚 A promise to my daughter that our brains might be wired differently, but we can do anything.
📚 A cheeky deal with my crazy cake-baking, straight-talking mate Mel: “If you ever write a book, I’ll proofread it.” (Spoiler: she did.)
📚 The desire to create the kind of books I want to read – full of grit, heat, heartache, and strong, messy, magnetic characters.
My Genre?
Thrilling, steamy dark romance – think raw emotions, deep wounds, sizzling chemistry, and the kind of drama that keeps you saying “just one more chapter” until 2AM. My characters are as bold and flawed as real people – they fight, fall, break, and burn. But most of all, they feel.

When I’m Not Writing…
You’ll find me up to my elbows in glitter or glue. I’m a full-time creative lunatic – I sew, paint, bake, make fascinators, jewellery, floral art, and even hand-decorate shoes. The only crafts I haven’t mastered are knitting and crocheting – and I’m okay with that. Something’s got to give!
